Hurricanes sign goaltender Jeremy Smith to one-year deal

The Carolina Hurricanes signed goaltender Jeremy Smith to a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000/$225,000.

The 28-year-old appeared in 10 games for the Colorado Avalanche last season going 1-6-1 with a 3.54 goals-against average.

He was originally selected in the second round by the Nashville Predators in the 2007 Entry Draft.
