The Winnipeg Jets re-signed defenceman Zach Redmond to a one-year, two-way contract Saturday.

The deal is worth $715,000 at the National Hockey League level.

Redmond, a 24-year-old native of Houston, TX., appeared in eight games with the Jets last season, recording four points and 12 penalty minutes before sustaining a serious laceration from a teammate’s skate blade during practice on Feb. 21, 2013.

He did not return to the club but played two games with Winnipeg’s American Hockey League affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps, to end the campaign.

Redmond has 50 points in 113 career AHL games, split between the Chicago Wolves and the IceCaps.

He was drafted in the seventh round, 184th overall out of Ferris State University by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2008 NHL draft.
