Jets sign defenceman Ben Chiarot to two-year extension

The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenceman Ben Chiarot to a two-year, $2.8-million contract extension.

Chiarot was a pending restricted free agent who played in 59 games for the Jets this past season, scoring twice and adding 10 assists.

The 26-year-old was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round of the 2010 NHL Draft.

He has five goals, 30 points, and 98 penalty minutes in 170 career NHL games.
