George Stroumboulopoulos sits down with Winnipeg Jets draft pick Kyle Connor to get his thoughts on being drafted.

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Kyle Connor to a three-year, two-way entry-level contract with an average annual value of US$1.775 million.

The 19-year-old Connor had an NCAA-leading 71 points (35 goals, 36 assists) in 38 games last season as a freshman at the University of Michigan.

Connor finished the season on a 27-game point streak leading the Wolverines to a Big Ten Championship.

The native of Shelby Township, Mich., was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award awarded to the top U.S. college player of the season.

The Jets selected Connor 17th overall at the 2015 draft.

Internationally, Connor helped the United States to a gold medal the 2013 World Junior A Challenge and the 2014 IIHF World U18 Championship.

Connor’s freshman season is equalled the 71 points that Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Eichel amassed for Boston University in 2014-15. Only Paul Kariya totalled more points as a freshman, scoring 100 points for Maine in 1992-93.
