Jets’ Wheeler ‘100 per cent’ after taking puck to head

Unfortunate news for the Winnipeg Jets, as one of their top forwards Blake Wheeler gets hit in the face by a Dustin Byfuglien shot during practice.

Winnipeg Jets forward Blake Wheeler was involved in a scary incident at practice on Friday when he was struck in the head with a puck.

Wheeler was hit with a shot from teammate Dustin Byfuglien. The 29-year-old appeared to be in considerable pain and had to leave the ice.

Thankfully, the incident does not appear to be as serious as it initially seemed. Wheeler is “100 per cent,” according to himself and Jets team doctors.

Wheeler leads the Jets in scoring with eight goals and 13 assists in 20 games.

The Jets host the Arizona Coyotes at 7 p.m. ET on Sportsnet Saturday night.
