COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Toronto Maple Leafs winger Joey Crabb is heading to the IIHF World Hockey Championship to represent the U.S.

He was added to the roster Thursday, bringing the total number of committed players to 18.

Crabb developed into a useful checking line winger for the Leafs this season, putting up 26 points (11-15) in 67 games.

It will be the first time the 29-year-old from Anchorage, Alaska, has represented his country since the 2001 world under-18 championship.

The U.S. is in the same pool as Canada at the world championship and will open the tournament in Helsinki with a game against France on May 4.
