John-Michael Liles leaves game with upper-body injury

John-Michael Liles had to be helped off the ice after taking a hard fall into the board early in Sunday's game against the Lightning.

Boston Bruins defenceman John-Michael Liles will not return to Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning after suffering an upper-body injury.

The injury occurred on a scary incident early in the first period when Liles tripped over Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop‘s stick, sending him flying into the end boards head first.

The veteran defenceman had to be helped off the ice by his teammates before going straight to the dressing room.

Liles has appeared in all 21 games for the Bruins this year while registering five assists.
