Jonathan Quick could require surgery that keeps him out months

Jonathan Quick would be in some pain after slipping while trying to make a save and would leave the game.

Jonathan Quick‘s injury may be worse than originally thought.

The Los Angeles Kings‘ starting goaltender left the team’s season opener after the first period with a reported lower-body injury. Now, surgery may be the solution for what’s being referred to as a groin injury, according to Sportsnet’s Daren Millard.

Quick was placed on injured reserve by the Kings on Thursday when his injury was classified as “week-to-week.”

Peter Budaj was recalled from the AHL and Jeff Zatkoff will presumably see plenty of action in the interim.

Kings GM Dean Lombardi told reporters Friday that Quick’s groin injury is located in a similar spot as his last groin pull that sidelined him for nearly two months.
