Detroit Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader has left Thursday’s game against the Florida Panthers and will not return after suffering a lower-body injury.

Abdelkader tried to hit Florida’s Vincent Trocheck with over 13 minutes left in the first period and seemed to be favouring his right leg on his way back to the Detroit bench.

The 29-year-old has eight points (four goals, four assists) this season and is second on the team in hits, coming into Thursday’s contest with 51.
