Justin Williams of the Los Angeles Kings was fully prepared to make his day with the Stanley Cup not only one the happiest days of his life, but also of his brother-in-law’s. Or one of the worst, depending on how everything panned out.
In his home of Ventnor City, N.J, Williams gathered friends and family for a morning boat ride, Cup in tow.
In the mix of friends and family were Williams’ brother-in-law, Pat, and his girlfriend of six years, Dana.
With his family watching, and the Stanley Cup and the sunshine in the background, Pat proposed to Dana, and her answer was predictably yes.
“This is for life,” Williams told NHL.com. “We’re a part of the story they’re going to tell forever. I’m happy to be a part of it and I’m happy Kelly and I were able to accommodate her brother.”
“I was thinking the Cup is going to be there, and Justin said, ‘OK,’ ” Pat told the site.
Williams added, "I’m just glad she said yes."
