TORONTO – Rob Kerr was named the new play-by-play announcer for the Calgary Flames on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet Flames. Rogers Sportsnet announced on Wednesday that Kerr will work alongside game analyst Charlie Simmer and host Roger Millions.
“I am humbled by this opportunity and look forward to pouring everything I have into my work,” said Kerr. “The Calgary Flames and their fans are very important to me. I can’t wait for the season to begin!”
Kerr was recently host of Calgary Flames hockey on Sportsnet Radio The FAN 960, including the pre-game, intermissions and the post-game coverage. He has done play-by-play for Flames Pay Per View and radio play-by-play for the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League and the Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League.
The new Flames broadcaster for Rogers Sportsnet will officially leave his regular afternoon slot on Sportsnet Radio The FAN 960 on Sept. 9, but will appear on the radio station occasionally during the Flames season.
“Rob has developed a strong connection with Flames fans on radio, web and Flames PPV, making him one of the most popular personalities in Calgary,” said Rob Corte, Vice-President, Production, Rogers Sportsnet. “We are excited to bring his knowledge and passion to the network’s broadcasts.”
“Rob Kerr will be a great addition to the Sportsnet television team and the Calgary Flames’ broadcasts,” said Flames President & CEO Ken King. “Rob has demonstrated an immense passion, knowledge and work ethic. Flames fans will surely enjoy his enthusiastic and well-informed call of our games on Sportsnet this season. We congratulate Rob on his new opportunity and look forward to a continued strong relationship with such a dedicated professional.”
