Kesler named Ducks’ alternate captain

The role of villain is not something every athlete is comfortable playing; Ryan Kesler is not one of the those athletes, and he embraces the ability to get under the skin of almost everyone he suits up against.

The Anaheim Ducks announced Thursday that forward Ryan Kesler will wear an ‘A’ for the team this season.

Corey Perry remains the other alternate alongside captain Ryan Getzlaf.

Kesler played in 81 games for the Ducks in 2014-15, scoring 20 goals and 47 points. He added seven goals and 13 points in 16 playoff games.

The 31-year-old winger was traded to Anaheim in June 2014 from Vancouver where he played nine seasons. Kesler also served as an alternate captain with the Canucks.
