It appears Los Angeles Kings forward Jeff Carter is nearing a return to game action.

Carter has been out of the Kings’ lineup since getting surgery for a lacerated ankle tendon suffered on Oct. 18.

In six games this season the 33-year-old has three assists. Last season he had 32 goals and 34 assists in 82 games.

Los Angeles is tied for the final wild-card spot with the Minnesota Wild with 71 points and recently acquired Dion Phaneuf from the Ottawa Senators, as well as Tobias Rieder and Scott Wedgewood from the Arizona Coyotes.
