Should Kucherov get suspended for hit on Enstrom?

Tobias Enstrom was left a bloody mess after taking a brutal hit to the boards from Nikita Kucherov.

The last thing the Winnipeg Jets need is another injury to a key player as they chase down a playoff spot. And they were given two scares Saturday night: one when Mark Scheifele was caught with a hip check from Anton Stralman, and another on this hit from behind by Nikita Kucherov on Tobias Enstrom.

Thankfully for the Jets, both players returned to the game.

As you can see in the video above, Enstrom goes into the corner to retrieve the puck and his able to take a glance over his shoulder. Kucherov is in hot pursuit and crushed Enstrom right in the numbers, pushing Enstrom’s head into the glass and leaving him bloodied. A scrum ensued and Kucherov received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the hit.

Will that be punishment enough for this vile hit, or will the NHL act and further discipline the Lightning forward? This is the kind of dangerous hit the league should be clamping down on and trying to eradicate from the game. Enstrom is defenseless, does not turn his back to Kucherov and should have been recognized as being in a vulnerable position.

Plus – Kucherov left his feet to deliver the check! What do you think?
