Watch as Mathieu Perreault lands an awkward hit to Connor Carrick’s shoulder.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Connor Carrick has left Tuesday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets and will not return after taking a hit from Mathieu Perreault.

Carrick appeared to be favouring his right shoulder on the Leafs bench in the first period before exiting the game for good.

The 22-year-old has two goals and five assists this season, in a career-high 55 games.

Toronto acquired the Orland Park, Ill., native from the Washington Capitals at last season’s trade deadline.
