The Toronto Maple Leafs‘ AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies signed veteran goaltender Karri Ramo to a Professional Try Out (PTO) Tuesday.
The move comes one day after the Maple Leafs placed Jhonas Enroth on waivers. Enroth subsequently cleared waivers Tuesday.
Ramo spent the last three seasons with the Calgary Flames where he amassed a 49-42-8 record, a .911 save percentage and 2.63 goals-against average. Prior to that he played four seasons with Omsk Avangard in the KHL.
The 30-year-old Asikkala, Finland native had been recovering from a torn ACL and even practised with the Maple Leafs in early November during his rehab.
“His agent has a relationship with (GM) Lou (Lamoriello), he knows Lou,” Leafs head coach Mike Babcock said at the time. “So he needed to get in shape and get his knee redone. Our guys helped him with that process and he was out on the ice today with us.”
