The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled winger Carter Ashton from the Marlies, the team announced Saturday morning.

The Leafs have sent left winger Josh Leivo to the AHL for the second time since Wednesday to make room for Ashton.

In seven games with the Leafs this season, Ashton has one assist and five penalty minutes. The 22-year-old was sent to the Marlies on Oct. 20, where he recorded two goals in two games.

Leivo was sent down Wednesday preceding the return of David Clarkson, who made his Leafs’ debut Friday following a 10-game suspension. Leivo was then recalled after Joffrey Lupul suffered a bruised foot in practice on Thursday.

In seven games with the Leafs, Leivo has recorded one goal and one assist.

Meanwhile, Lupul has gone for a CT to get more information on his injured foot.
