Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos has confirmed an earlier report that the Toronto Maple Leafs are close to signing defenceman Luke Schenn and could have the deal done as early as Friday.
If done, Schenn is expected to be at the first day of training camp.
Drafted by the Maple Leafs fifth overall in the 2008 draft, he finished the 2010-11 season with five goals, 17 assists in 82 games played.
In three seasons with Toronto Schenn has 12 goals and 41 assists, totaling 53 points.
