The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Justin Holl to a one-year, entry-level contract.
Holl signed a minor-league deal with the AHL Marlies last off-season and tallied five goals and 16 assists in 60 games with the Leafs’ farm club. The 24-year-old’s play impressed Toronto’s management well enough to earn an NHL contract this time around.
He was originally drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round (54th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
The Tonka Bay, Minn. native’s contract comes with a $92,500 signing bonus and a $742,000 NHL salary. His AHL salary is $70,000.
