Lightning send former 3rd overall pick Drouin to AHL

Dominic Moore put New York ahead early in the third, Dan Boyle had a goal and an assist and the Rangers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2.

With just one goal in his last 16 games, former first-round draft pick Jonathan Drouin is on his way to the American Hockey League.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have assigned Drouin to the Syracuse Crunch, the team announced Saturday.

Drouin has two goals and eight points in 19 games this season with the Lightning.

The 20-year-old totalled six points in his first five games to start the 2015-16 season, but has cooled off with just one goal and two points in his last 14.

The Lightning selected Drouin third overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.
