Lightning sign Slater Koekkoek to one-year deal

The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenceman Slater Koekkoek to a one-year contract worth $800,000, the team announced Monday.

Koekkoek appeared in 29 games with the Lightning this past season, notching four assists.

The 23-year-old had two goals and 11 assists in 48 games with AHL Syracuse.

Tampa drafted the North Dundas, Ont., native in the first round (10th overall) in 2012.

He has five assists in 41 career NHL games.
