Lightning’s Jonathan Drouin leaves game after heavy hit, returns in third period

Watch as Jonathan Drouin gets absolutely destroyed entering the New York Islanders zone by Thomas Hickey.

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin left the game Tuesday and did not return until midway through the third period.

He was hit by New York Islanders defenceman Thomas Hickey and left the ice soon after.

Drouin left immediately after the hit to be evaluated. He returned in the third and assisted on the game-tying goal in the last minute of regulation to send the game into overtime.

The forward is third in team scoring with one goal and seven points in seven post-season games. Four of those points were on the power play while he’s scored one game-winning goal.
