With the New York Rangers clinching a playoff berth on Thursday, the next piece of the puzzle was to get their No. 1 goalie back.
That will happen on Saturday afternoon when Henrik Lundqvist starts in goal as the Rangers take on Boston Bruins.
‘The King’ has missed the last seven weeks with a vascular injury in his neck. The 33 year old will resumed skating with New York earlier this week.
The injury happened in a game on Jan. 31 against the Carolina Hurricanes, when he took a shot under his mask. At that point, Lundqvist was 25-11-3 with a .922 save percentage.
He admitted that after the scary injury, he felt somewhat lost.
The Rangers were able to get solid goaltending in his absence from Cam Talbot, who has posted 19 wins this season and a .929 save percentage.
If the playoffs were to start today, New York would be facing the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the playoffs.
