Maple Leafs expect to keep Nylander for rest of season

Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock says if it was up to him, William Nylander has earned the right to stay with the team for the rest of the year, regardless of any contract stipulations.

Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock expects rookie William Nylander to remain with Toronto for the rest of the season.

Babcock made the announcement on Tuesday morning.

The 19-year-old centre has two goals in eight games this season for the Maple Leafs.

Toronto would burn a year off of Nylander’s entry-level contract if he plays over 10 games this season.
