The Toronto Maple Leafs re-signed centre Sam Carrick to a one-year deal, the team announced on Monday.

Carrick, 23, scored one goal with one assist in 16 games with the Maple Leafs this past season. He was scheduled to be a restricted free agent this summer.

The Markham, Ont., native spent the majority of the 2014-15 season with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, registered nine goals, 18 assists and 112 penalty minutes in 59 games.

The Maple Leafs originally selected Carrick in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft.
