Maple Leafs sign Swedish defenceman Loov

TORONTO — The Toronto Maple Leafs signed defenceman Viktor Loov to a three-year entry-level contract Wednesday.

The 21-year-old native of Sodertalje, Sweden had 12 points (five goals, seven assists) and 20 penalty minutes in 42 games for Modo of the Swedish Hockey League this past season.

The six-foot-three 190-pound blue-liner was selected by the Maple Leafs in the seventh round (No. 209 overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
