Maple Leafs to place forward Clune on waivers

Toronto’s Richard Clune will not be an easy guy to push around on the ice because, as Scott Oake explains, the winger can clean and jerk 157kg.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will place forward Rich Clune on waivers Friday at 12 p.m. ET, according to multiple reports.

The club will take its chances with Clune passing through waivers in order to make room for defenceman Scott Harrington’s return from injured reserve.

Harrington is expected to be in the lineup when the Maple Leafs host the Detroit Red Wings. Martin Marincin will take a seat in the press box.

The move comes less than a week after the Maple Leafs inked Clune to a one-year, $575,000 deal and waived forward Mark Arcobello.

Clune played two games with the Maple Leafs, registering one shot, five penalty minutes, and a minus-1 rating.
