Leafs, Flyers renew hostilities on Sportsnet

Just one night after their pre-season opener, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers are set to renew hostilities Monday and newly-acquired goaltender Jonathan Bernier is expected to make his Leafs debut.

Bernier, who was acquired in an off-season trade with the Los Angeles Kings, is in a battle with James Reimer for the Leafs starting goalie job.

Sunday’s game, which was filled with some big hits and one fight, took place at the Budweiser Gardens, home of the Ontario Hockey League’s Knights in London, Ont. Monday’s action takes place at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

The Leafs edged the Flyers Sunday, as goals from Nazem Kadri, Troy Bodie, Mason Raymond and Paul Ranger helped lead to a 4-3 win.

Monday’s game is the Leafs’ second of eight scheduled pre-season contests before their regular season kicks off on Oct. 1 against the Montreal Canadiens. The Flyers, meanwhile, open their regular season on Oct. 2 against eh Leafs.
