Milestone: Hossa becomes Slovakia’s all-time leader in goals

Marian Hossa’s second goal of the night against the Avalanche made him the highest-scoring Slovakian in history, passing Peter Bondra.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa has scored more goals than any Slovakian player in NHL history.

Hossa passed countryman Peter Bondra with goal No. 504 55 seconds into the third period of Thursday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche.

Goal 503 was scored earlier in the game.

The Ottawa Senators drafted Hossa 12th overall in 1997, and he developed into one of the game’s best two-way forwards.

He was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers, then the Pittsburgh Penguins, before joining the Detroit Red Wings and finally Chicago as a free agent.

The 37-year-old also has 594 assists to give him 1,098 points in 1,246 games.
