The Ottawa Senators could be forced to play without their leading scorer this week.
Mark Stone had a phone hearing with the NHL department of player safety Monday morning to discuss this illegal check to the head he delivered on Detroit Red Wings centre Landon Ferraro Saturday night:
Stone received a minor penalty for the illegal hit, which took place at 11:08 of the second period.
Ferraro was slow to get up after the check and left the ice, but he did return later in the frame.
Detroit won the game 5-3.
The Senators’ next game goes Tuesday against the division-rival Canadiens in Montreal.
