Sportsnet.ca — The timetable for Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Bryan McCabe is looking promising.
McCabe, who has been sidelined since with a broken hand, at practice Tuesday morning and there is a chance he will play Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens..
The more likely return date for McCabe would be Saturday and the Leafs are hopeful they’ll get a couple of players back by then. Forward Alex Steen remains out with a shoulder injury but could be ready for the weekend.
Meanwhile, forward Darryl Boyce was in Alabama Tuesday morning for surgery on his shoulder, to be performed by Dr. James Andrews. Forward Alexei Ponikarovsky was there as well for an opinion. No surgery will be needed on his injured shoulder.
The Maple Leafs host the Florida Panthers Tuesday night with a chance to join three teams in a tie for 11th place in the Eastern Conference with 53 points.
