With the NHL All-Star Game just a month away, Connor McDavid, Steven Stamkos and Alex Ovechkin have emerged as heavy favourites to captain their respective divisions.
McDavid, who has 43 points this season, leads all players in voting and sits comfortably in front of Johnny Gaudreau and James Neal in the Pacific division.
Stamkos pulls in just behind McDavid in overall votes, with his teammate Nikita Kucherov making a case behind him to lead the Atlantic division in front of the Tampa Bay crowd. Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews sits behind the duo.
Ovechkin owns the No. 1 spot in the Metropolitan division ahead of Sidney Crosby and John Tavares, while the race in the Pacific division is the closest with P.K Subban, Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Kane filling out the top three on the ballot.
The All-Star game gets underway Jan. 28 in Tampa Bay and voting concludes at 11:59 p.m. ET on Jan. 1.
