On Tuesday, Mike Richards participated in his first practice with the Washington Capitals since being signed by the team to a one-year, $1 million pro-rated contract. It appears he’s getting closer to his debut with the team.
On Thursday, prior to Washington’s game at home against the Vancouver Canucks, Richards took to the ice for pre-game warmups, but he won’t be playing in the game.
Richards signed with the Capitals a week ago, after being bought out by the Los Angeles Kings. He hasn’t played an NHL game since last season, when he scored 16 points in 53 games for the Kings. He was sent to the AHL by Los Angeles in 2014-15 and scored 14 points in 16 games for the Manchester Monarchs.
