Self-described on his Twitter profile page as a “part time goalie, full time redneck,” Montreal Canadiens all-star netminder Carey Price drew some negative feedback after he tweeted a graphic hunting photo of himself and another shooter with a dead coyote Wednesday evening:

The 25-year-old Price (left, flashing the peace sign sideways) responded to criticism to his photo and explained his kill through a pair of follow-up tweets:
Coyote hunting is a necessity on order to maintain population. Too many coyotes = fewer game animals = no meat for my family.

Some people are hunters and some gatherers #nobiggie

Price, a native of rural Anahim Lake, B.C., joins the Vancouver Canucks’ David Booth as NHLers who have recently publicized photos of their hunting kills.
Within the last month, Price’s sporadic tweets have been mostly hunting-related, including photos of his hunting dog with dead birds.

“Just broke in my new Beretta with my billet Denis #deadly,” he tweeted in late November.
As the NHL lockout drags on, several players have faced criticism for tweets deemed inappropriate by some followers.
Last week Winnipeg Jets forward Evander Kane tweeted a “joke” photo of himself holding stacks of cash that he says was taken out of context.
Did Carey Price cross the line by tweeting out the coyote photo?
