Islanders lose Mikhail Grabovski to injury

John Tavares puts up two goals and an assist in New York’s 5-2 win against Arizona on Monday night.

Mikhail Grabovski left Monday’s victory over the Arizona Coyotes after suffering an upper-body injury and did not return.

The New York Islanders third-line centre got sandwiched near the Isles’ slot by Anthony Duclair and Martin Hanzal during a backcheck, then skated to the bench about midway through the second period.

Watch the play:

Grabovski, who has dealt with his share of injuries of late, has not played more than 58 games in an NHL season since 2011-12.

The 31-year-old has registered three goals, five assists and is a plus-5 through 19 games with New York this season.

The Islanders next host the Montreal Canadiens — the club that drafted Grabovski — on Friday.
