Brandon Prust’s time with the New York Rangers is likely coming to an end as Rangers general manager Glen Sather told the New York Post the team likely won’t re-sign the forward.
Prust is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 and contract negotiations have not gone well.
“I don’t think we’re going to get that one done,” said Sather during the first round of the NHL Draft on Friday. “I like him, the team likes him, everybody likes him … but I’m not married to him.”

The 28-year-old grinder had a salary cap hit of $800,000 the last two seasons but is expected to ask for a raise that would more than double his salary.
In 82 games last season the London, Ont., native had five goals, 17 points and 156 penalty minutes including 20 fighting majors.
