Arbitration Tracker: All 25 cases now settled

Braden Holtby absolutely robs Martin St. Louis for the second time in Game 5 with a quick glove.

The Latest: Upon the arbitrator awarding Mike Hoffman a one-year, $2-million contract Monday, all 25 arbitration cases have now been settled one way or another.

New York Rangers centre Derek Stepan, Detroit Red wings sniper Gustav Nyquist, and Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby headlined the 23 who filed for salary arbitration. All three inked multi-year extensions.

Three teams — Arizona, Calgary and Nashville — led the pack as three restricted free agents from each club filed. Players who file for arbitration cannot sign an offer sheet.

The Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs filed for club-elected arbitration with defenceman Justin Schultz and goalie Jonathan Bernier, respectively. (This means they believed their players should take a pay cut.)

As we saw last summer, arbitration cases usually result in a game of chicken, the two sides rarely completing the arbitration process. The majority of salary disputes are settled prior to an arbitrator’s ruling. Only Hoffman, Marcus Johansson and Alex Chiasson went the distance this summer.

Here is the full list of the players who filed for arbitration and how their cases panned out.
