NHL instructing officials to speed up post-review process

Elliotte Friedman explains one way that the NHL plans on speeding up the game of hockey, with officials instructed not to talk to each coach after a video review.

The NHL is instructing officials to drop the puck immediately after announcing a review decision, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman on Wednesday.

The league has struggled with the length of reviews lately with several dragging on for over five minutes. Although everyone wants the call to be right, the lengthy wait times can certainly deflate a crowd.

One of the most recent examples was in February when the Chicago Blackhawks visited the Minnesota Wild.
