It was believed the two sides would be taking a break after reports surfaced that NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman suggested a two-week moratorium on CBA talks.
But deputy commissioner Bill Daly told Millard that negotiations are now back on.

The NHL lockout has lasted 63 days with 327 regular-season games already lost and the league has already cancelled the Winter Classic between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings scheduled for New Year’s Day.
A shortened season is still a possibility as the 1995 lockout ended in January and resulted in a 48-game schedule. The previous lockout that wiped out the 2004-05 season was cancelled in February.
