Chris Neil has one more season remaining on his contract.

It appears the Ottawa Senators are going to be sellers rather than buyers at this year’s trade deadline and they’re receiving calls on a few of their veteran skaters.

According to the Ottawa Citizen, general manager Bryan Murray says forward Chris Neil, plus defencemen Chris Phillips and Marc Methot are garnering some interest as the March 2 deadline nears.

Both Neil and Phillips have spent their entire NHL careers with the Senators and Murray said he would speak to both men before he’d consider pulling the trigger on a trade.

“The two Chrises you have to talk to. They deserve that,” Murray said. “Before I’d even suggest trading either one, I think, from their length of service here, the type of people they are, what they bring to the locker room, it would be a long discussion with them.”

Methot is a pending unrestricted free agent and if they don’t sign him to a new deal, he could also be moved.
