The Toronto Maple Leafs are making calls on forward Dave Bolland, according to Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos.

Bolland, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2013-14 season, is reportedly seeking a new contract that would pay him up to $5 million per season.

This latest report comes just weeks after Kypreos tweeted that Bolland’s camp is looking for an eight-year deal.

The 27-year-old has only appeared in 15 games this season after suffering a severed ankle tendon during a loss to the Vancouver Canucks in early November. The Mimico, Ont., native has registered six
goals, four assists, and 18 penalty minutes in his first season in Toronto.

It remains unclear when the two-time Stanley Cup winner will be able to return to the lineup.

The Leafs originally acquired Bolland in a deal with the Chicago Blackhawks for a package of draft picks at the 2013 NHL Draft.
