The NHL and NHLPA are tentatively scheduled to resume talks Thursday afternoon after the two sides met internally Thursday morning.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr are expected to rejoin negotiations after not taking part in talks on Tuesday and Wednesday in an effort to spur progress.
The sides have reportedly moved closer with their proposals in recent days, but several hurdles still remain in negotiations.
The lockout, which is on its 82nd day, has resulted in the cancellation of 422 regular-season games through Dec. 14.
