Nyquist offered in-person hearing after high stick on Spurgeon

Watch as Gustav Nyquist viciously high sticks Jared Spurgeon.

The NHL Department of Player Safety has offered an in-person hearing to Detroit’s Gustav Nyquist after his high-sticking penalty on Minnesota’s Jared Spurgeon.

This offer allows the NHL to suspend Nyquist for six or more games. It is unclear for now if he will accept the offer.

Nyquist was given a four-minute double minor for high-sticking. You can see the full video of the play at the top of this post.

Nyquist has never been suspended during his six seasons in the NHL.
