Oilers place defenceman Eric Gryba on waivers

The Edmonton Oilers tied the game in the third but Patrick Kane’s OT goal gave Jeff Glass and the Chicago Blackhawks the 4-3 win.

The Edmonton Oilers have placed defenceman Eric Gryba on waivers.

The move comes with the Oilers needing space on their roster for top-pairing blueliner Oscar Klefbom, who returned to the Edmonton lineup on Friday after missing time with a shoulder injury.

Gryba has two assists and 31 penalty minutes in 21 games this season.

The 29-year-old has spent the past three seasons in Edmonton, serving as muscle on the team’s bottom pairing.

He would have to be assigned to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors should he clear waivers, given Edmonton’s use of non-roster waivers.
