Oilers’ Nugent-Hopkins to return vs Canucks

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins missed two games with an undisclosed injury, but it appears he’ll be ready to get back into the lineup for Edmonton’s game against Vancouver Friday night.

Mark Spector on Twitter: “Looks like RNH is in tonight, judging by morning skate.”

The 21-year-old centre got into a fight with Canucks defence man Dan Hamhuis in the first meeting between the two teams and hasn’t played since. However, Oilers coach Dallas Eakins insisted that Nugent-Hopkins’s injury wasn’t related to the tilt.

Meanwhile, the Oilers recalled defenceman Martin Marincin from the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons and assigned defenceman Darnell Nurse to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL and winger Steve Pinizzotto to the Barons.

Marincin, 22, has registered one assist in one game for Oklahoma City this season. The Kosice, Slovakia native appeared in 44 games for the Oilers last season, posting six assists and 16 penalty minutes.

Nurse played two games for the Oilers, but was a minus-2 without any points. He was the seventh overall selection in the 2013 draft.
