Oilers sign Davidson to entry level contract

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers added a rookie defenceman after signing Brandon Davidson to an entry level contract Thursday.

The 20-year-old was selected 162nd overall by Edmonton in the 2010 draft.

Davidson, a former Regina Pats captain, had 13 goals, 36 assists and 83 penalty minutes in 69 games with the Western Hockey League team last season.

The six-foot-one, 202-pound native of Lethbridge, Alta., had 22 goals and 112 assists with Regina in 200 career games along with 191 penalty minutes.

Davidson made his professional debut in two games last season with the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.
