Oilers trade Rieder to Coyotes for Kessy

Tobias Rieder was drafted by the Oilers in the fourth round (114th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.

The Edmonton Oilers traded Tobias Rieder to the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for forward Kale Kessy Friday.

Rieder recorded 27 goals and 56 points in 52 games with the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League this season.

The Landshut, Germany native was drafted by the Oilers in the fourth round (114 overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.

Kessy was also selected in the fourth round (111th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft by the Coyotes and is currently tied for the Western Hockey League lead with four goals so far in the playoffs.

In 60 games — split between the Kamloops Blazers, Vancouver Giants and Medicine Hat Tigers — this season, Kessy has 21 goals, 43 points and 44 penalty minutes.
