P.K. Subban makes good on baby blunder

Alex Galchenyuk scored twice and added an assist as the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Dallas Stars.

It’s been a long, long season for the Montreal Canadiens, so it can’t hurt to see P.K. Subban take a cute picture with a baby.

Subban met with the family of baby Beatrice Tuesday after Montreal’s win against the Dallas Stars. Back in mid-February, Subban accidentally hit the infant with a puck at an outdoor practice when he tossed the puck over the glass to fans. Beatrice suffered a concussion and stayed in hospital briefly.

It’s typical of Canadiens players to toss pucks into the crowd after a public skate. The team was initially unaware of the accident, but invited the family to attend Tuesday’s game and to watch from the Children’s Foundation luxury suite at the Bell Centre.

“P.K. feels terrible, but he had no idea,” said Donald Beauchamp, the club’s vice-president of communications to The Montreal Gazette. “He felt terrible at first, then he felt really happy to hear that all was good.”

It’s a happy ending the Habs would like to experience themselves this season.
