Florida Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo will miss an “extended period of time” with a groin injury, head coach Bob Boughner told reporters on Wednesday.

Luongo had to leave Monday’s game against the New York Islanders after stretching to make a save.

The 38-year-old missed a significant chunk of last season with a hip injury, appearing in only 40 games.

He has a 6-6-1 record and .928 save rate in 15 games this season.

The Panthers recalled goaltender Harri Sateri from AHL Springfield.
