The Florida Panthers signed Swedish free agent defenceman Linus Hultström, the team announced Tuesday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but according to Uptown Hockey which manages Hultström it’s a two-year deal.
Hultström is coming off an impressive season with Djurgardens IF of the Swedish Hockey League where he registered 12 goals, 19 assists and a plus-17 rating in 52 games. His 31 points were tied for first among defencemen in the SHL.
The 23-year-old is a smooth-skating, offensive-minded player that possesses a quality shot and impressive vision from the point.
Here is a sample of the right-handed blue-liner’s work with Djurgardens.
He also recorded 12 points in eight playoff games this season. He was teammates on Djurgardens with former NHLers Patrick Thoresen and Mikael Tellqvist, plus Toronto Maple Leafs’ potential signee Mantas Armalis.
Hultström, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of Vimmerby, Sweden, has also played for Leksands IF and Linkoping HC in his SHL career.
